Collection: Kabiite Series

This collection of sculptures made from South African Red Gum wood are known as KABIITE. Kabiite is an African endearing nickname given to a woman by the community, meaning the ‘favoured one’. The village community used to say Kabiite afumbye (let the favoured one cook), which she was doing as her duty and as a mother and member of the African community. Kabiite Sculptures are intertwined in an African domestic space and the negotiation of power and relationships.
