Godfrey Sseguja a graduate of Kyambogo University is one of Africa’s
leading wildlife artists. His work is most done on mostly on canvas with
acrylic paint, thou on some of his pieces he also uses African backcloth (a
locally made fabric from mutuba tree) to enhance the texture and color of his
work.

Born in East Africa, Uganda Godfrey grew up on the out
skirts of Kampala, brought up his late mother who introduced him to the
creative world of making African furniture and fiberglass wares. He started
painting in earnest at age 15 when he was introduced to the art of painting. He
loves visiting Uganda’s game parks rich in wildlife, from where he draws his
inspiration for his powerful wildlife acrylic paintings.

On some of his works Sseguja draws inspiration from peoples
daily activities in his local community.
